Adaptive Pause Nov. 23 – Dec. 4

Central Logo

As we are getting ready for the upcoming holiday I wanted to reach out to let you know that this morning we were informed that, due to the county-wide positivity rate, the KCHD is recommending a two-week “Adaptive Pause” from Monday, November 23rd – Friday, December 4th.  During the term of the “Adaptive Pause” all students will revert to remote instruction. Please know that parent/teacher conferences planned for next week will proceed as planned and staff will continue to instruct students remotely during the “Adaptive Pause” period.  On their last day of school attendance this week, students will need to take home supplies that they will need during the week of November 30th.  Instruction will continue with your child(ren)’s current school schedule during the “Adaptive Pause”.

For planning purposes, it is possible that Governor Pritzker could plan additional mitigation measures for Region 8, which includes DuPage and Kane Counties. The district will continue to work closely with the Kane County Health Department and follow the guidance of the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and communicate to families and staff if this current “Adaptive Pause” guidance changes.

We have much to be thankful for as we approach the Thanksgiving holiday.  We are completing our twelfth week of in-person and remote instruction, and while we have had positive COVID cases, they have not been linked back to exposure in the school setting. Our students and staff have done a great job of hand sanitizing, social distancing, and using masks.  Our teachers and support staff are meeting the educational needs of our students in innovative ways. Our custodial crews diligently clean and disinfect our schools, our lunch workers make sure our students are nourished and our buses continue to safely transport our students to and from school on a daily basis. Central 301 nurses and administrators work tirelessly with the Kane County Health Department to monitor the wellbeing of each school to provide a healthy and safe environment for teaching and learning.  I am also thankful for our families and students for monitoring their symptoms and for staying home when sick.  Your efforts have helped keep our schools outbreak free, and for that we are grateful.

We would like to thank you for your partnership and support during this unusual time. We are dedicated to doing what is best for our students, families and community, while taking into account the needs and concerns of our staff.  We will continue to follow the recommendations of the Illinois State Board of Education and the IDPH to continue to provide learning experiences in the safest environment possible.

In educational partnership,

Dr. Todd Stirn
